Given MTV’s impact on youth culture–and, uh, the fact that I’m embarrassingly obsessed with The Hills and The City–I was eager to attend the MTV and ServiceNation Be the Change Inaugural Ball at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on January 20th. As I wrote two days ago, it was to be broadcast on MTV and MTV.com, and was expected to be one of the biggest bashes of the weekend.
Now, it seems that MTV will not host a ball. I received an email from MTV staff today stating, “MTV & ServiceNation will not be holding a separate event at the Reagan Center on January 20th. Instead, we will be broadcasting from another D.C. location for our television program, which will air January 20th at 10pm. We’ll be announcing more details soon.” I haven’t heard back yet about MTV’s new plans, but ServiceNation has partnered with the Huffington Post to sponsor an event at the Newseum on Monday January 19th.
Whither MTV? The Washington Post‘s Reliable Source column reports that MTV will broadcast from an official inaugural ball, which are all on January 20th. Will MTV be a part of the Huffington Post/ServiceNation ball? More importantly, will MTV stars Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, and Spencer Pratt–who all attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and Capitol File after party at the Newseum–return to the Newseum for another Washington all-star event?
