Union Station near Capitol Hill is a beautiful, historic building that provides quick and easy access to New York City, but I’ve admittedly never thought of it as a shopping destination despite the fact that the building houses a mall. Above the train tracks you’ll find a number of chain stores ranging from Ann Taylor to Victoria’s Secret, but until today, the only thing I’d ever bought in the station is a coffee for my Amtrak ride.
This evening, however, I visited the UK accessories chain boutique, Accessorize, for a media and blogger party to kick off the cherry blossom festival with the store’s new blossom-inspired line for spring and summer. After all, I have been in the market for some colorful fashion jewelry for spring, and I’m always up for any excuse to check out a new shop in the District.
Large Cherry Blossom Bag, $65
Cherry Blossom Clutch, $45
The small store–which opened about a year ago, as the brand’s social media marketer Melissa De Witte told me–is surprisingly jam-packed with on-trend baubles, bags, and other accessories. My friend Ali, a fashion-forward food blogger, and I ooh-ed and aah-ed over a number of items, which range from $8 to $80. I’ve found that similar accessories chains are geared toward younger shoppers, but Accessorize’s styles range from sparkly butterflies to more grown-up bohemian styles–and the shop’s fans range from Willow Smith to Kate Middleton.
Vintage-Style Turquoise Dangle Earrings, $20
Disclaimer: Accessorize invited me to the party and gifted me a few free items with no expectation of a review. I also purchased a few items with my own money. As usual, I only write about products that I like and/or fully endorse, though I appreciate Accessorize’s gifts!
