During London Fashion Week, Somerset House is the location of the Exhibition, which allows press and buyers to wander through rooms full of the newest ready-to-wear, accessories, jewelry, and shoes. I loved getting up-close and personal with the items, especially the jewelry, which often can’t be seen on the runway.
Mawi was one of the first brands I noticed. It’s a brand that epitomizes the jewelry trends for the season: high-polished gold and silver, bold gemstones, spikes and studs, and hard elements like skulls mixed with soft elements like pearls. Think: Cleopatra meets 1930s Art Deco.
I’m totally smitten with Mawi’s necklaces, many of which are available for purchase now and range from about £250 to £600 at the Mawi online shop and other online retailers like Net-A-Porter. Can I justify one if I don’t allow myself to buy another new dress until the summer?
Mawi Double Claw Spike Necklace, £513 at Mawi
The necklaces in her “Punk Rajah” collection have spikes, so the price includes an incredible necklace plus a useful weapon.
Mawi Skyline Tube Necklace, £351 at Mawi
Perhaps the elegant, art deco gold necklace is a more sensible option, although it’s just as beautiful.
