On Monday I stopped by the International Center for Photography across the street from Bryant Park for the Vittadini presentation, set against the backdrop of the center’s exhibit called Weird Beauty: Fashion Photography Now. The line’s creative director Kristiina Salminen relaunched the Vittadini clothing label with 20+ chic, ready-to-wear looks that work on the streets of New York and in the offices of D.C.
The collection featured rich tweeds and autumn-appropriate sweaters in greens, grays, and browns. I particularly like the tweed suits, an updated take on mod.
But of course, no collection is complete without a pop of color–and for Vittadini, that color is chartreuse.
Compared to the wild high-fashion photos on the walls–and the 80s-inspired neon colors on many of the runways–the collection is very wearable and actually looks like a fall collection, too. I’d like to see D.C. women kick up their business casual wardrobe a notch with some of these pieces.
