The New York Post reports today that designer Peter Som was “dumped by majority investor NRDC Equity Partners,” mere months after leaving his gig as designer at Bill Blass. Sorry Som, but they’re just not that into you.

Which is unfortunate, because after I saw Peter Som’s runway show in September, he quickly became one of my favorite designers. I didn’t have a seat at the show, but had a birds’ eye view of the runway in the American Express Skybox, as I recount in my Fashion Week article. (Yes, it was my only glimpse of Anna Wintour.) As the Post notes, “Som isn’t a household name,” but I believe this favorite of Wintour’s could become one of the world’s most influential and wearable designers.
