Though the city isn’t quite crazy yet, inauguration weekend is in full swing. Last night, I stopped by the H.O.P.E. Inaugural Youth Ball and spoke with 16-year-old Jermaine Crawford (The Wire), who was wearing a red, white, and blue spotted bowtie. The event was packed with families and small children in tuxes and ballgowns–a good thing, I say, because fashion sense starts young! I then traveled to the Hill to meet Barack Obama’s young professional base at the Young and Powerful Group’s launch event, where I interviewed the very stylish Mya, a D.C. native, along with Obama supporters from across the country. And today, I had the pleasure of attending the California State Society’s Inaugural Luncheon and Fashion Show, hosted by Project Runway contestant Nick Verreos, who was wearing a Marc Jacobs suit. Whew, I’m exhausted! The highlight of my weekend so far? Nick telling me that I’m fashionable! And, he said, so are the majority of the women he’s met in D.C.
Here I am (in my trusty DVF dress) with the lovely Mya, who is dressed in Nicole Miller.
