We don’t know yet who Michelle Obama chose to design her inaugural gown, but we do know that the soon-to-be Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will follow in Laura Bush’s footsteps and wear Oscar de la Renta, according to People StyleWatch:
De la Renta says she will be “wearing a very, very beautiful dress…pink and grey with this beautiful embroidery.” Oscar continues on to say that he “love[s] Hillary,” but they do fight about her revealing more skin. “You know, Hillary, in a sense, is sort of very prudish about the type of clothes she likes to wear and you know from the waist up she really looks great. She feels very uncomfortable about wearing revealing kind[s] of clothes, and so we are always fighting about the neckline…”
Better than showing too much skin, right? Boxy pantsuits aside, I commend Hillary Clinton for often choosing bright and unique colors. (I maintain that the orange pantsuit she wore at the Convention looked good against the blue backdrop and illuminated her face.) And while I’m sure her pink Oscar de la Renta gown will be stunning, wouldn’t you love to see a politico (or a politico’s wife) wear this gown from de la Renta’s Spring 2009 collection?
